Le Presi Brunello di Montalcino 2003
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino|
Suggestive aromas of sweet licorice, tobacco, red cherries and spices emerge from Le Presi's 2003 Brunello di Montalcino. This beautiful, cask-aged Brunello captures an attractive mix of ripe, generous fruit wrapped inside a classically built, structured frame. The tannins are well-integrated but firm, so another year or two of cellaring might be beneficial, but I wouldn't wait too long as the wine's aromatic and flavor profile suggest it won't be especially long-lived. Still, this is a pretty wine from the southern part of the zone that is sure to provide much pleasure, particularly at the dinner table. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2017.
