Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Estate Cabernet Sauvignon 2018
|Region||California, Sonoma County, Alexander Valley|
A powerful Cabernet from the hillsides of Alexander Valley, this wine is lush with blackberries, dark plum and dark chocolate. The notes of dried herbs, black pepper and minerality reflect the terroir of the Alexander Valley. The soft, supple and mature tannins give this wine a strong backbone, while the 18 months of barrel aging have softened the wine enough to enjoy now. Pair this wine with braised short ribs, lamb shanks, beef ravioli or cellar for enjoyment over the next four to six years.
Open-knit, featuring a mix of cherry and raspberry fruit, backed by a bolt of licorice on the finish. A light savory hint gives this a little lift at the very end. Drink now through 2020.
Herbal and briary, this wine shows strong flavors of clove, cigar and leather saddle, with a soft, easygoing midpalate of full-bodied weight and flavor. Black currant and dark chocolate mark the finish.
