All Sangiovese from estate vineyards, aged 12 months in French oak, the 2017 Rosso Di Montalcino has a bright, classic Sangiovese nose of tart cherries, toasted spices, violets, and apple blossoms. It's medium-bodied, silky, has good ripeness, and a balanced, rounded, supple texture. Coming from a hot vintage, it shows beautiful fruit yet is balanced and classic.
Broad and velvety, with a beam of vibrant cherry accented by iron, sanguine, earth and underbrush notes. Dense and beefy, finishing long and cleansing. Drink now through 2023.
Violet, baked plum, leather and licorice aromas come together in the glass. The round, juicy palate offers ripe blackberry, fleshy black cherry, vanilla and mocha alongside relaxed, slightly dusty tannins. Drink soon.
Ripe and racy to the core, Il Poggione's 2017 Rosso di Montalcino offers tons of richness and intensity from the very first taste. Sweet red cherry, wild flowers, spice and a kiss of new oak are all front and center. In this vintage, the Rosso is decidedly bold. It needs time in bottle to fully come together, for some of that oak to integrate, but it is undoubtedly a very delicious and alluring Rosso that captures the flamboyance of the year.
