Savage White 2015
|Region||South Africa, Western Cape|
The 2015 Proprietary White is now a blend of Chenin Blanc, Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon and Clariette Blanc. It has a very pure bouquet with lemon curd, dried apricot, broom and light fennel aromas that are very delineated. The palate is fresh and vibrant on the entry, beautifully balanced with a fine line of acidity, hints of orange rind and white peach, nectarine towards the finish that contains plenty of energy and drive. This is superb, as usual. Drink Date: 2018-2028.
This alluring white displays a mix of shortbread and lemon curd flavors that lean toward the rich side, set against verbena, honeysuckle and wet stone accents that impart brightness and freshness. The long finish knits the two elements together nicely. Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Clairette Blanche and Chenin Blanc. Drink now through 2019. 600 cases made.
A blend of 44% Sauvignon Blanc, 36% Sémillon, 11% Clairette Blanche and 8% Chenin Blanc, this wine is still drinking young, and would benefit from some more time in the cellar to flesh out. Aromas of white peach, melon rind, pressed buttercup, verbena and almond skin unfold on the nose and continue through to the slightly plush, smooth palate. Medium acidity lends good cut to the mouthfeel, while soft nuances of toast and baking spice grace the close. Try 2018-2022.
