Château les Grands Chênes Medoc 2016
|Region||France, Bordeaux, Medoc|
|Brand||Château les Grands Chênes|
Very attractive red fruit and spices with a background, tarry edge that leads to a palate that offers ample sweet fruit on first impression with bright acidity and a long, fresh and flavorful, darker-fruit finish. Try from 2021.
This ripe wine is full of great fruit aromas and flavors. The tannins are generous and rich, supported by rounded black-plum and -berry fruits. It should cellar well through the medium term.
A core of dark currant and raspberry fruit is sleek and fresh in feel, while a moderate dose of toast clings to the edges. A light iron hint adds to the finish. Drink now through 2026. 2,000 cases made. — JM
The 2015 les Grands Chênes is pale to medium garnet-purple in color with a nose of raspberries, dried Mediterranean herbs and tilled soil. Light to medium-bodied, it's relatively soft and fresh in the mouth, if a little light on fruit concentration and finish.
