Chamisal Stainless Chardonnay 2018
|Region||California, Central Coast|
The nose of the 2018 Stainless Chardonnay opens with open-knit, inviting aromas of apples-green, yellow and red apple skin-with poached pears, baker's yeast, crushed stone, hazelnut, fresh quince and lime blossoms. It's light to medium-bodied with a rounded, silky texture and good core of fresh fruits, finishing with lively acidity and lift. I appreciate that this isn't lean and mean! A balanced, generous stainless style of unoaked Chardonnay.
This stainless bottling style goes back many years for Chamisal, and that experience always delivers a very crisp and clean wine, perfect for those who like the tropical-leaning character that emerges sans oak. Aromas of apple, yellow pear and white rock lead into a tightly wound palate of Asian pear and riper peach, all framed by a chalky texture.
Resinous notes accent the ripe citrus and dried green herbal flavors. Short finish. Drink now. 6,000 cases made.
