K Vintners Ovide Jack's Vineyard 2020

From Jack's Vineyard, which is just beside the River Rock Vineyard, and vines planted in 1997, the 2020 Ovide is 74% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Syrah that spent 22 months in 50% new oak. Red and black fruits, bacon fat, iron, cold fireplace, and bouquet garni notes define the aromatics, and this beauty is medium to full-bodied, has ultra-fine tannins, and flawless balance. It's a brilliant red to enjoy over the coming decade.

Plum sauce and sage are offset by a whiff of camphor as the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon-Syrah Ovide opens in the glass. It's silky-smooth, with a mineral tinge up front that gives way to tart black fruits under an air of dark inner florals. Red plum and white pepper notes linger, as the 2020 tapers off gently tannic.
