Intense ruby red, with pale pomegranate highlights. The bouquet is decisive, fine, broad and lingering with hints of vanilla, cherry, raspberry, and licorice. Dry, warm, smooth, well-textured and lingering on the palate. Great wine with roasts, grilled meats, wild game, and elaborate dishes, as well as rare T-bone steaks. It can also be served alone, as a “reflection” wine.

The nose is sweet and comforting, with aromas of vanilla, cherry blossom, wild strawberry and orange peel. The palate brings the more playful sweetness of cherries, strawberries and chocolate vanilla swirl, but a hot streak of acid and a spiced finish provide balance.

Sour cherry mixes with dusty rose, cedar shavings and ground clove as the 2020 Brunello di Montalcino comes to life in the glass. Silken and supple, it coasts across the palate with polished red berry fruits, showing the radiance of the year, underscored by crunchy minerals and hints of sweet spice. Juicy acidity adds freshness as the 2020 finishes with a web of sweet tannins and a pleasantly bitter tinge of licorice that lingers.

Deep, dark flavors of plum, blackberry, black cherry and tar are embraced by woolly tannins in this powerful red. Feels wilder than most from 2020, with elements of wild herbs and forest floor. There's a core of ripe fruit that's locked up for now. Best from 2028 through 2043. 2,800 cases made, 1,200 cases imported.

A deep magenta color, the 2020 Brunello Di Montalcino is roasty and warming with aromas of baked plum, toasted cedar, tarry earth, and violets. It's full-bodied and penetrating on the palate, with saturating ripe tannins and a long, rich finish, although it retains good underlying freshness. It's going to benefit from another 6 months or so in bottle. Drink 2025-2035.
