Aromas of lush, bright black cherry, blackberry and cassis draw you in. Round, rich, seamless tannins provide a robust backbone and supple mid-palate. Notes of cedar, vanilla and a hint of mocha linger on the finish.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Reserve is a blend of 92.5% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, 1.5% Petit Verdot and 1% Merlot, aged 12 months in 65% French and 35% American oak (14% new overall). Deep ruby-purple, it opens with cassis, grilled black plum, blueberries, vanilla bean and pie spices with red fruit sparks. Medium to full-bodied, it offers great flavor intensity, a grainy frame and juicy acidity to lift the long finish. This is approachable right out of the gate and great value. 163,442 cases produced.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Reserve (95% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, and Merlot) is straighter and more focused, with plenty of red currants, black cherry, tobacco, and smoky oak notes as well as medium body and ripe tannins. It's nicely balanced, with ample fruit and texture and a great finish.

Super-ripe dark cherry, red plum, chocolate, flowers and sweet spice are all kicked up in the racy, flamboyant 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Vintner's Reserve. Drink it over the next handful of years. This is so nicely done, especially considering its production of 160,000 cases. That's probably more than the sum of all the high-flying Napa Cabernets put together!

Oaky and tannic up front, this wine settles into a balanced space of pencil shavings, cedar and red currant. Plum and dark-cherry flavors follow.
