Aromatic and attractive with plum, lavender and sage character. Medium body and firm, silky tannins. Layered finish. Second wine of Château Dauzac. Shows intensity and structure. A blend of 55 per cent cabernet sauvignon and 45 per cent merlot. Try after 2021.

The 2016 Aurore de Dauzac is a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon. It offers slightly pinched but focused blackberry and briary scents, the Cabernet actually more expressive at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied with good body on the entry, crisp acidity and a pleasant citrus note towards the pretty finish. I appreciate the balance and approachable nature of this Deuxieme Vin and it should drink nicely over 5-6 years.
